As far as a hunting scenario goes,I have very rarely if ever, shot at a deer out to or over 100 yards with my. The Leapers is big and bulky.įor long distance paper punching or steel target silhouette shooting I would agree that the 8moa dot would be superior to the much smaller 3 or 4 moa dot.

Shooting from a STANDING position theīigger dot feels more stable to me. 100yd Field Pistol and 200Meter Big Bore. Magnum Hunter w/factory supplied UTG Leapers red dot.įF3 is 3moa. Maybe with all the down times that is why I’m even taking the time on something like this haha.L shoot with 75vette. I haven’t had a chance to shoot a match with mine yet as we have had our matches shut down since March and I just picked up this pistol. I’ve also heard people say they use 12 MOA and have no issues. I love the Vortex brand, I use their glass on nearly all of my rifle builds. But for what I do, how often I do it and the limited budget I have. Then I get confused.įor now I think I will just try to get to B class in Carry Optics with my Venom 3 MOA and then if I want to go further from there invest in a CZ and high end optic. But then I have had some M tell me that they shoot something like 12 or 12.5 with a triangle dot. 9 MOA is just under 1 inch at 10 yards, 4.5 inches at 50 yards and, obviously, 9 inches at 100 yards. Part of me wants to get a Venom 6 MOA b/c everyone says the 6 is the best. By contrast, 6 MOA another common reticle size is 3 inches at 50 yards but 6 inches at 100 yards. For punching paper at 50, 100 and 200 yards will. The main main difference is the Sparc has a 2 MOA dot and the Bushnell has a 3 MOA dot. The Vortex Sparc and the Bushnell TRS-25. So I am shopping for my first optic for my AR (range toy) and I have it narrowed down to two. However, I started with a Viper 6 MOA and liked it a lot but found some good deals on Venom's 3 MOA and liked how you can adjust them different from the Viper and how you didn't have to take the optic off to change the battery.įor me, I have not noticed a big difference, even at a sunny match but so far I have only shot one with 3 MOA and only did about a dozen with the Viper 6 MOA. By Rollo, Apin AR15 Gear and Accessories. I went the cheap but unlimited warranty route as I am just a C shooter in Carry Optics and do not invest a lot of time in it. 3.25 is probably better for those who want crazy pin point accuracy but i personally do not recommend the smaller dot for beginners or a ccw weapon. Itll be much easier to find and works great for most people.

Unfortunately not many people shoot carry optics that I have seen at our matches, so I haven’t been able to fondle anything else yet. Edit: One last thing, for those who are new to pistol mounted optics, go with the larger dot (6 MOA vs 3.25 etc).
3 MOA VS 6 MOA VORTEX MANUAL
I just really want the manual controls and while buying another I thought I would go for the upgraded version. The Diamondback offers an eye relief between 3’’ and 3.2’’ whereas the Crossfire II offers between 3.5’ & 4. I was aware of the non auto adjust on type 2. Vortex Diamondback Tactical 4-16×44 FFP features Travel Per Rotation of 15 MOA or 6 MRAD.
3 MOA VS 6 MOA VORTEX HOW TO
Read the manual to understand how to switch between modes and how to lock modes. PPS, RMRs with manually-adjustable brightness also have an auto-brightness feature and that's what they default to when you turn them on. It means the battery compartment and contacts have been redesigned to prevent loss of contact with the battery under the severe G forces that a slide-mounted optic is subjected to. PS, "Type 2" does not mean an RMR has manually adjustable brightness. BTW, the SRO has the same exact footprint as the RMR. IF you decide you want to buy something else, skip the manually-adjustable RMR and go straight to a 5 MOA SRO. The auto-adjust feature in RMRs works very well outdoors. The 6.5 MOA dot is damned near perfect for action pistol sports. So it wouldn’t be frame mounted.īefore you sink any money into anything, go shoot a few matches. I’m not sure if an RMR is bright enough to be used at 3.25 as you mentioned. Personally, I prefer the 3 MOA dot version of the Venom because I feel like my eye catches the reticle quickly enough, and the smaller dot gives you a liittle bit more precision for small targets and targets at further distances But the 6 MOA dot is also a good size reticle for a pistol optic because it’s probably just a little bit easier.
3 MOA VS 6 MOA VORTEX UPGRADE
I’m looking to upgrade to a Type 2 RMR but I’m just having trouble with dot size. So right now I have a 6.5 MOA RMR that is non adjustable.
